Everything is right in the world...

The best numbers of the game: 51.4 and 7

The worst number of the game: 69.4

Let me start off by saying that today is a glorious day. I woke up this morning feeling like a million bucks, and when I walked outside to head to work, there was a light dusting of snow on the ground in Atlanta. I think the big man in the sky was celebrating last night. Now, to the numbers:

The Commodores shot 51.4% last night from the field, and if they had just let Shan take every shot the would have shot closer to 60%. Seriously, some of those threes he was raining down were ridiculous. He was not going to be denied a victory.

The next number: 7. The 'Dores only turned the ball over 7 times last night, compared to 22 times in the first matchup with UT. I think most of the credit for this belongs to Dolla Beal. Beal, in my mind, is one of the best true point guards around. His assist-to-turnover ratio only gets better.

The only disappointing thing about the game, was that the Dores shot 69.4% from the charity stripe. If they want to make a run in the tourny, I think that number should be closer to 75%. That being said, it really wasn't that disappointing.

The fact that the Commodores were able to slow the tempo, and play their game was a huge advantage. And the fact that they were able to run the half court offense without Ogilvy speaks towards the depth on the team. Now they just need to prove that they can play well outside of Memorial, and I think their confidence is growing.

Hopefully they can get some rest, and take the Mo to Fayetteville this weekend.

So true. It's encouraging to know that our team has enough depth that we do not rely on any one player to win games. If we had capitalized on "the damn free throw contest" (according to the UT fan sitting next to me, drinking jim beam and coke) Vandy would have pulled away and created a much bigger gap than the final 72-69. Luckily the Vols weren't sinking their free-throws since they we put them in the bonus 3 minutes into the second half. As for Foster, you just can't beat a guy who can hit 3s all day with a man in his face.

Nothing wrong with a good Beam and Coke. A gameday must, no matter which Commodore squad you are watching.
