WYW has a correspondent in Tempe watching the action, jealous? I know you are because I am. He will keep us updated throughout the tourney...
Update 1: 1256 mt time
*Dores look good in warm-ups - tight and ready to play; beavers looked laxed (like a team coming off 2 national championships)
*Field is wet and there is a light rain which would seem to favour our western opponents
*Dore contingency is surprisingly strong although light compared to osu
*Dores are in gold; players about to take field
*Go Dores!!
Update 2:
*Surrounded by beavers(only if the Jesus could be so lucky)
*Macias walkedl; dh white takes first on a walk; de la osa, after swinging for the fences twice, lines one past 3rd; pedro reaches on an E5; flaherty crushes one to left and 2 runs score; feinberg Ks swinging
*Lookin good boys
*Best etsimate 20 scouts in stands
*Dores 2- Beavers (.)
*Correction:
Meant to say macias k's .... Feinberg takes 3 and we are about to get a look a the dores defense . .
Expect updates at the end of each inning
Rain lifting and crazy man mikey minor warming up
Hanks crushes into center but caught out afte french's fly ball . . . Macias rips a double up first base line; dh white rips one up 1st and macias scores; throw to homr is wild and white tries to stretch o third - note white is the slowest commodore since skuchas - and is easily tagged at 3rd . . . Dores up 3-1
Rain persists (all the chatter is about minors move to pick off at 1st)
Apologize, it is 3-0 (typing in rain) . . . Minor picks off another! Prediction: no stolen bases on minor this year...osu is playing scared. He k'ed one, beaned another and one reached on fielders choice...comments from osu fans: "we looked scared of this guy"
I bet minor would have thrown the bat at piazza too
De la osa in field fly; pedro ks looking; flaherty makes great contact but 1st baseman makes great play
Pedro looks pissed - throwing his helmet as he walked into dugout...bet he unleashes later
Minor Ks 2 more and a 3rd grounds out to 2nd
Feinberg flies out; osu pitcher is throwing some wild balls; robin grounds out to short; hanks sends one to el paso
French rips a single; conference on the mound; no one warming up; keeps trying to pick off french but is way slow; he is throwing a lot of pitches; macias grounds out but made him work for it
Boys we got ourselves a great Friday starter - 2 more Ks and a great play by pedro at third ... Beavers bring a new pitcher
Flaherty drives in white (worlds slowest dh) ... Men on first and 2nd w/ feinberg fighting; de la osa K'ed swingiNg for fences again ...
Bases juiced and conference on mound ...
Real slow going here .... Cold, wet and windy
Update from pro scout:
Pedro is the sh#t, wont play 3rd with his feet but with that bat he can play anywhere
Minor is a first rounder, better than schmidt (?) for arkansas last year
De la osa is a tough sale b/c of size but will probably play somewhere
Flaherty is a good player and will definitely be a high draft pick
Scouts love corbin; he has a great program (scouts hate stanford b/c of coaching)
Stud pitcher we signed will never play college ball
Osu changed pitchers and Feinberg just brought in 2 ... Coltham is playing really well in relief work ... 8-1 Dores
Tomorrows game is going to feature the 2 best plyers in college baseball (asu has 2 hitters, firs nd third, that have the scouts drooling) ... Hands are cold, sorry for typos
Bottom of the 9th, Line up change, lots of younger kids in ... Pedro just made another grea play at 3rd ... All in all a good showing
Key take-aways to come later

holy hell i had the whole thing streaming live, looking like a good little cube monkey but barely able to contain yelps of delight as i watched the dores pound on the beavs.
WHOOHOOOO!!!!!!!!!
If today was any indication, J White may be the palliative for my it's-de-la-osa's-last-season blues. Baserunning like a concord, man! phew!
